Skin-vestment: The action or process of investing time and money with the expectation of achieving healthy, glowing, and supple skin in the future.

What does skincare mean to you?

Believe it or not, it is much more than just applying products on our skin. We believe it is a form of self-care, self-love and an investment for the rest of your life. Whether it’s with the use of products, treatments or overall lifestyle choices, here at Q the Medical Spa, we will help you reach your personal goals and give you the confidence to show off your healthy, glowing skin.

Everyone’s skin is very unique, and each product or treatment may not be best for everyone. The key is to listen to your skin and pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and is often taken advantage of and not recognized enough. Not only does it shield us from the outside world, but it also fights illnesses and diseases each day. Investing in skincare is important for slowing down skin problems and preventing long-term and permanent damage.

Skincare journey

Skincare is a journey and learning experience that requires time, money and effort. Unfortunately, there is no magic potion or quick fixes when it comes to your skin. We understand that spending money on skincare can be hard, especially if it is expensive, but what you’re paying for isn’t just luxurious, over-priced products. It’s the carefully created, active ingredients such as Retinol, antioxidants and peptides that will actually nourish and penetrate deep in your skin and work towards addressing your concerns. There’s no need to worry about spending a fortune and starting a whole new routine all at once. Adding too many new products into your routine too quickly can cause your skin to become confused and possibly irritated. It’s best to introduce one product at a time and let it work for at least 6-12 weeks before adding another.

Skincare treatments

There are many different treatments today that can help with the preventative care of your skin besides products. These include chemical peels, laser treatments or even injectables, like Botox and fillers. With the use of Botox, the muscles are relaxed which prevents them from excessively contracting, so there is less tugging on the skin and the appearance of wrinkles is reduced. Dermal fillers are great for smoothing over imperfections and restoring a youthful glow to the face. By smoothing away wrinkles and restoring youthful volume to the face, patients can take years off their appearance without the need for surgery.

Lifestyle choices and your skin

Diet, nutrition, and exercise is also a part of your skin-vestment. Beauty comes from within, and what you put into your body, will come through on the outside. Eating healthy foods, especially vegetables, provides an abundance of antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory properties that boost skin health. Drinking plenty of water will also help the skin become plump and improve its elasticity. Regular exercise is one of the keys to achieving healthy skin. By increasing blood flow, exercise helps nourish the skin cells and keep them vital. The other key is consistency! You don’t go to the gym and do one sit-up and expect to see washboard abs the next day, right? Being diligent with your daily routine and getting medical-grade treatments often is the perfect solution for beautiful skin.

We believe the most important piece is investing in yourself and your mental health. Did you know, meditation actually slows down the aging process? Taking time out of those oh-so busy days to just stand still and breathe increases the oxygen and rejuvenates your skin while balancing your body and your mind, transforming your body’s cells and tissues. It improves your complexion, reduces wrinkles, and slows down the aging process from the inside out. Scientific research proves that training our brains through meditation affects our skin’s health. Having a healthy mind, body, and soul will turn into a radiant, healthy glow.

Skincare shouldn’t feel like a chore, but a lifestyle that you can build upon and improve over time. It may be hard at first, but once you start to see and feel results, it’ll come naturally and eventually you may be excited to follow your regimens. Once you put effort into caring for your skin, your skin will love you back. You won’t regret this investment because you’ll be on your way to looking and feeling confident in your fresh face all the time.
