Ultherapy® Care Instructions
Before your Ultherapy® treatment, please follow these instructions:
- Avoid a “fresh” sunburn, which reddens the skin and makes it tender.
- For one week prior to the procedure, do not use topical products containing Isotretinoin (e.g. Retin A), glycolic acid, or salicylic acid, as these can irritate the skin.
- Gently wash treatment area with a mild cleanser. Do not apply any creams, lotions, foundation, powder or other products prior to treatment.
- Please take (Motrin/Advil) Ibuprofen 800mg one hour before arrival or you may choose to take Tylenol ES-two tablets.
- Wear comfortable clothing with an open neck. Please remove all jewelry including necklaces and earrings.
- If you take Valium prior to the procedure, you must have a ride to and from your procedure due to taking medication.
- Plan on this appointment taking between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending upon area treated.
After your Ultherapy® treatment, please follow these instructions:
Typically after your Ultherapy® treatment, you may return to normal activities. Please follow our advice regarding the care of your skin.
- Wash skin with cool water and a gentle cleanser.
- If your skin is slightly pink or red in areas following treatment, avoid hot water when washing or showering until the “blush” has subsided (usually within the hour).
- It is okay to use a cool pack on any areas that feel uncomfortable.
- Avoid exfoliation for at least one week after treatment or until all sensitivity in the treatment area has subsided.
- Makeup (preferably mineral based) may be applied immediately post-treatment.
- Soothing, non-irritating creams or moisturizers can be used.
- Use a sunblock of SPF 30 or greater if going outside into the sun to help prevent future sun damage.
